Here are the best Black Friday deals on Amazon and Google Nest smart displays Posted: 23 Nov 2019 08:00 AM PST Photo by Dan Seifert / The Verge If you're in the market for a smart speaker, we've got you covered with a roundup of the best Black Friday deals on Amazon Echo and Google Home speakers. But smart displays might be a better choice if you want a device that you can use to play music and also showcase your photos and make video calls. Whether you're looking for one with a camera or a more private option without, here's your guide to those sales, which are happening at several different retailers. YouTube needs to chill with its annoying Premium spam Posted: 23 Nov 2019 07:00 AM PST YouTube has been pissing me off for weeks. I'm starting to feel like I should pay $11.99 a month to subscribe to YouTube Premium just to get rid of the annoying pop-ups Google sends me almost daily. Google has decided to place pop-up ads in its own YouTube app for Premium subscriptions. This feels slightly acceptable at first, but Google has also decided these should spam you to death, sometimes full-screen, with no option to permanently dismiss them so you see them all the damn time. But as I played Vader Immortal, a virtual reality Star Wars series that concluded this week, I realized that "theme park" is the perfect term for it. And here, that's not an insult. Vader Immortal is a short-form narrative VR game for the Oculus Quest and Rift headsets, written by screenwriter David S. Goyer. It's composed of three episodes, each of which lasts less than an hour, although there's a non-narrative "lightsaber dojo" for... |

Verge readers can save $370 on the DJI Mavic 2 Pro ahead of Black Friday Posted: 23 Nov 2019 05:15 AM PST Photo by Vjeran Pavic / The Verge Black Friday is an excellent time to snag some pretty significant discounts on expensive electronics, and that includes drones from DJI. Wellbots is offering an exclusive discount on the DJI Mavic 2 Pro drone for Verge readers. It's normally priced at $1,729, but you can save When he reviewed it last year, Verge video director Vjeran Pavic said the DJI Mavic 2 Pro produces great video footage and photos, even if you're not an experienced photographer or videographer.
