Devolver is selling ‘bootleg’ versions of games like Hotline Miami and Enter the Gungeon Posted: 09 Jun 2019 07:32 PM PDT Devolver Digital's annual, bizarre E3 press conference brought with it some surprising, fun news this year: the company is selling "bootleg" versions of its games for one percent off. "Devolver Bootleg" is a collection of popular Devolver games that are re-purposed as bootleg versions. The snort-inducing gimmick gives players the chance to purchase "fake" versions of popular games like Enter the Gungeon (known as "Enter the Gun Dungeon" under the bootleg label) for a slightly cheaper price. The bootleg versions are 1 percent off. Hey, a sale is a sale. The eight different games available as part of the program are:

The 9 biggest announcements from Bethesda’s E3 2019 keynote Posted: 09 Jun 2019 06:55 PM PDT While we didn't learn any more about Starfield or The Elder Scrolls VI — both of which were teased last year — Bethesda's E3 keynote today still had some great reveals. Fallout 76 is getting a massive update, Doom Eternal has a release date, and Shinji Mikami has a new horror game. Here's what you missed if you couldn't catch the press conference live. Arkane's mind-bending new game is DeathloopArkane is a studio best-known for the Dishonored series of action-adventure games, but the team is back with something very different. Called Deathloop, it's a first-person game about two assassins caught in an "eternal struggle." Here's how Bethesda describes it:

Deathloop is the next game from the studio behind Dishonored Posted: 09 Jun 2019 06:44 PM PDT Arkane, the studio behind the Dishonored series and Prey, is back with a new game called Deathloop — which is apparently about two assassins known as "The Captain" and "Jules" attempting to kill each other (and their targets) while stuck in a time loop in a mysterious island known as Blackreef. The trailer above gives us a hint at the game's vibe, and we learned at Bethesda's E3 press conference that it will combine a "mind-bending story" with the "meticulously designed levels" that Arkane is known for. Deathloop is being developed at Arkane's Lyon studio, and unfortunately, we have no idea when it's coming out — or when we might see more. But it's a nicely weird-looking project that promises fights, supernatural powers, and a strange... |
Doom Eternal launches November 22nd with a new ‘Battlemode’ multiplayer experience Posted: 09 Jun 2019 06:39 PM PDT Doom Eternal, id Software's sequel to its 2016 series reboot, is launching November 22nd. The game will be available for PC, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One. id Software showed off new gameplay for what it's calling "the ultimate power fantasy" during the Bethesda E3 press conference. The game will include a new multiplayer experience called Battlemode, where two player-controlled demons will take on a fully loaded slayer. More details will be announced at QuakeCon. Bethesda and id Software announced Doom Eternal during E3 2018 and offered fans a look at gameplay during QuakeCon later that year. In Eternal, hell comes to Earth with a new horde of demons from Mars. The game is also coming to streaming service Google Stadia. Stadia l... |
Bethesda announces Orion cloud gaming system, with beta later this year Posted: 09 Jun 2019 06:38 PM PDT Bethesda Softworks has announced a software platform that's supposed to dramatically improve cloud gaming performance. The system, called Orion, could be added to a wide variety of games across different game streaming services. Bethesda promises that it will give players a higher-quality experience that's accessible on slower internet speeds, and it's opening a limited beta test later this year. Bethesda announced the news at the 2019 E3 show in Los Angeles, where cloud gaming hype is intense. Among other services, Google recently revealed the pricing and release date for its Stadia game streaming system, and Microsoft announced details about its xCloud platform earlier today. Orion is... |
Fallout 76 is getting a massive update with NPCs and battle royale Posted: 09 Jun 2019 06:03 PM PDT The massively multiplayer Fallout 76 is getting a big new update, and it includes non-player characters with their own questlines for players to engage with. The "Wastelanders" update is coming this fall for free to Fallout 76 owners with a limited preview later this week. It's described as the game's first major expansion since its launch last year, adding new weapons, a new main quest, and a 52-player battle royale mode. "Wastelanders" could make Fallout 76 feel more like older installments of the series. The game notably launched without human NPCs, but now, players will find other survivors with "full dialog trees" and — it's implied — the kind of moral choices people are used to making in Fallout games. Meanwhile, "Nuclear Winter"... |
Three UK to launch 5G network in August Posted: 09 Jun 2019 04:01 PM PDT Three UK has announced that its 5G network will launch in August with support for both mobile phones and home broadband. By the end of the year, the company says the network will be available in 25 towns across the UK — including London, Cardiff, Glasgow, Birmingham, Manchester, and Liverpool — although it has yet to announce exactly where the service will be available at launch. The company's 5G home broadband service will initially be available in London. Three's August launch date will make it the third 5G network to launch in the country. EE's network is already live in six cities across the UK, and in its launch week, it was already offering average speeds of around 200 Mbps. Meanwhile, Vodafone's 5G network will arrive on July 3rd.... |
The US Army will test a new GPS that’s resistant to jamming this fall Posted: 09 Jun 2019 03:04 PM PDT This fall, the US Army will test a jam-resistant GPS to try and overcome the problem, Breaking Defense, following suspicions that Russia has jammed GPS signals in Europe and elsewhere. GPS jamming can also be a major liability for US and allied forces, which depend on the system for everything from troop movement to missile and drone guidance. Last fall, the US and NATO allies launched a major joint exercise in Norway called Trident Juncture, to test the joint readiness and training of a large, multinational coalition. Over the course of the exercise, the military noticed that GPS signals were being jammed, which Finland and Norway officials attributed to Russia. In April 2018, US officials said that the Russian military had been... |
