One of the novel ways you might want to play Stadia, Google's cloud gaming service, is by connecting your Stadia Controller to a Pixel phone — but Google hasn't had the accessories ready to make that an easy reality. Shortly before Stadia's launch, the company mentioned that it was working on a small plastic attachment it called "the claw" that you could clip onto your controller to mount a phone and play your games. Now, a month after Stadia's launch, the claw is listed for $14.99 on Power Support's website. Even though the listing says the claw will be "available soon," you can add it to your cart and buy it right now (via 9to5Google).

The Power Support Claw, as it's officially called, is custom-designed to grip the Stadia Controller,...

Pornhub sheds light on 2019 Android stats that Google refuses to release

Pornhub has released its annual Year in Review blog, and it contains some noteworthy data about, of all things, Android OS usage statistics, as observed by Android Police.

The data is interesting because Google hasn't updated its own dashboard of how many devices are on each version of Android since May, so for months, there haven't been any public figures about the current state of Android OS adoption. And with Pornhub being one of the top 50 sites in global Alexa rankings, it's somewhat plausible that its data is in the ballpark of 2019 Android OS usage.

Pornhub doesn't know how many devices are on each version of Android, but it reports that for all of 2019, 48 percent of its Android traffic came from Pie (which is last year's major...

Why Ring can’t just blame users for those home-invading camera ‘hacks’

If you're thinking of buying a Ring camera for someone as a holiday gift, read Motherboard's deeply unsettling coverage first. Maybe you've heard about the podcast where people spy on homeowners' Ring and Nest cameras for laughs? Motherboard decided to test how easy it might be to access someone's Ring devices specifically.

Their reporters found Ring has failed to put in place some basic security measures that could protect users' privacy. I mean, if I log into Gmail from a new browser, I get a text message and two slightly panicky emails. Motherboard found that Ring doesn't even do that much.

Reporter Joseph Cox details how his colleagues were able to watch him getting ready for work, just by having access to his email address and Ring...

Huawei teases upgraded Mate X foldable with better hinge and tougher screen

Huawei will release an improved version of its Mate X folding smartphone next year, with a better hinge, tougher screen, and faster processor. The details come from Richard Yu, leader of Huawei's consumer business, who spoke to Frandroid during a trip to Huawei's headquarters. Huawei also intends to bring the current Mate X to Europe, seemingly in the first quarter of 2020.

The Mate X only came out last month, going on sale in China for $2,400. Half of the foldable's screen can flip around back, so that you have a screen on both sides when it's folded closed. That design has made it one of the better options during the debut year of folding phones, since others — like Samsung's Galaxy Fold — have had much more prominent hinges that...

Edward Snowden is not entitled to any profits from the sales of his memoir and the United States government can instead claim the proceeds, a federal judge found in a decision yesterday.

The National Security Agency leaker published the book, called Permanent Record, in September, but the Justice Department immediately stepped in with a lawsuit. Usually, intelligence agencies submit works to a prepublication review process to ensure no government secrets are released.

The government argued that since Snowden had failed to provide the book for a contractually obligated review, he had no right to the profits from the book or his public speeches. Snowden's lawyers have countered that it would be...

Spotify is testing a new feature, Tastebuds, that lets users discover new music through their friends, TechCrunch reports. The feature was first discovered by app researcher Jane Manchun Wong, who found the prototype on the web version of Spotify through reverse-engineering.

While not much is known about the feature yet, a dummy landing page that explains, "Now you can discover music through friends whose taste you trust," can be found here. Clicking on the pen icon will let users search through people they follow, view what songs they've been playing the most, and add songs to their own library from there. The Tastebuds tab can be accessed from the navigation section alongside the Home and Library tabs.

Berlin Embraces Sharing Economy For Transport Photo by Sean Gallup/Getty Images

Share Now, the car-sharing service formerly known as Car2Go, is leaving North America. Daimler and BMW, the two global automakers that share ownership of Share Now, said it would cease service on February 29th, 2020. Share Now currently operates in New York City, Montreal, Seattle, Washington, DC, and Vancouver.

The decision was based on "two complicated realities," Daimler and BMW said in a joint statement: the "volatile state of the global mobility industry" and rising infrastructure costs associated with operating a car-sharing service in North America.

"While we had remained hopeful that we would be able to come to a solution — especially these...

AT&T will now show you a green check mark for validated calls on some Android phones

AT&T announced on Wednesday that it has turned on call validation displays for certain Android phones. That way, you can easily determine if you're getting a spoofed robocall or a call from a spammer.

If you're using a Samsung Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+, or an LG V40 ThinQ and you get a call from a number that AT&T has authenticated, you'll now see a green check mark to the right of that number and a message saying that it's a "Valid number."

Here's what that message looks like:

If you subscribe to AT&T's Digital Home Phone service, you can also turn on call validation, and AT&T says you'll see a "[V]" next to a valid number. AT&T also validates calls if you're an iPhone user, but right now, there's no way...

Gaming peripherals manufacturer Corsair has acquired Scuf Gaming, which makes a very popular line of high-end e-sports controllers. While the terms of the deal weren't disclosed, the transaction is expected to be completed by the end of this month.

Scuf's controllers are modular and highly customizable; the company holds more than 100 patents related to their improvements on traditional controllers. They'll mostly be quality-of-life improvements to areas like the triggers, which are intended to help gamers reduce hand strain and perform better in competitive settings, and programmable back paddles that can duplicate the actions of front-facing buttons. A line of Denon DJ gear just got Wi-Fi, and somehow that’s a first

Denon DJ has announced an industry first for DJ gear: starting today, a new software update allows its Prime 4 standalone player and its SC5000 and SC5000M media players to directly connect to the internet via Ethernet or built-in Wi-Fi. The feature was beta tested a few months ago, but is now available for all and allows Denon's devices to play music straight from streaming services. The company's first partner is Tidal, and it plans to integrate SoundCloud, Beatport, and Beatsource early next year. This rollout means a DJ could show up to a club with Denon gear and play from Tidal's entire catalog without having to bring any additional hardware.

Built-in internet connectivity feels like a wild landmark feature for a product category in...
