Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s holiday update will let players trade guns for snowballs Posted: 25 Dec 2019 01:00 PM PST The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare team is spreading some holiday cheer this season with a limited time snowball fight mode. In the game's latest update, Infinity Ward and Activision are rolling out a new gunfight mode, cleverly titled "Snowfight," that lets players trade in their guns for snowballs. From now until 1pm ET on December 31st, you and a partner will be able to fight enemies with chunks of snow rather than grenades and guns. The snowballs function a lot like other throwable items in the game, like knives, and players can pick them up across the new Winter Docks map. The Winter Docks map is decorated with wreaths, holiday lights, and a group of four scary-looking snowmen. If you decide to destroy the snowmen, you'll trigger a... |
Pentagon warns home DNA tests pose ‘personal and operational risks’ to military members Posted: 25 Dec 2019 09:45 AM PST The Pentagon has advised military members to avoid using take-home DNA kits because of concerns about "unintended security consequences and increased risk to the joint force and mission," according to Yahoo News, which first reported on the internal memo. The memo doesn't specifically lay out what the exact risks are, but it appears that it's a generalized concern over health information affecting a military member's ability to serve. Sent on December 20th, the memo doesn't specifically name any companies, but 23andMe and Ancestry.com both offer popular DNA testing kits meant to provide information about potential health risks and family information. The New York Times confirmed the veracity of the memo with a Pentagon spokesperson who... |
Tesla’s holiday software update includes voice-to-text, Camp Mode, and a song making kit Posted: 25 Dec 2019 08:30 AM PST Illustration by Alex Castro / Th Tesla has started rolling out a massive holiday update that was previously teased by CEO Elon Musk last week, including a "Full Self-Driving sneak preview." It also includes long-awaited features like reading text messages aloud, a "camping mode," and more. The "full self-driving" sneak preview is mainly an improvement on the driving visualizations that appear in-car. The new visualization can now "display additional objects that include stoplights, stop signs, and select road markings." The update notes, however, that stop signs and stoplight visualizations "are not a substitute for an attentive driver and will not stop the car." Here's the visualization in action: One of the biggest feature updates allows driver to listen to and send... |
