Xbox One X drops to $399 in Microsoft’s Black Friday deals Posted: 10 Nov 2018 05:20 PM PST Microsoft is offering its latest Xbox One X console at its lowest price point ever for Black Friday. The software maker is taking $100 off the Xbox One X, bringing it down to $399.99 during the Black Friday period. Microsoft's deal will be available at a variety of retailers, but the company warns it's a limited offer between November 18th and 26th. Alongside the Xbox One X discount, there's also $100 off the Xbox One S Minecraft bundle, and a $70 discount on other bundles that include games like Forza Horizon 4. Microsoft is also offering big discounts on games for the Xbox One, including 50 percent off Forza Motorsport 7 and Sea of Thieves, and 35 percent off a number of other first party titles. These deals will be available between... |
Microsoft’s Xbox exclusives push continues with new studio acquisitions Posted: 10 Nov 2018 02:59 PM PST Microsoft is continuing its push to create more exclusive titles for Xbox One. Earlier this year the software maker announced that five new studios would be joining Microsoft Studios, and now there's more. Microsoft is acquiring inXile Entertainment and Obsidian Entertainment. Based in California, inXile was formed by Brian Fargo and now primarily develops RPG games like Wasteland 2. Also based in California, Obsidian Entertainment is known for games like Fallout: New Vegas, South Park: The Stick of Truth, and the Pillars of Eternity series. Both studios are a solid way to fill an RPG gap that has existed on Xbox, and help Microsoft create more exclusive titles for the Xbox. "While they do share a... |

Microsoft reveals Crackdown 3 will launch on February 15th, 2019 Posted: 10 Nov 2018 01:16 PM PST Microsoft is revealing a new Crackdown 3 release date today. The open-world crimefighting game has been delayed multiple times, and was originally supposed to arrive on November 7th, 2017. Microsoft pushed that release date to the second or third quarter of 2018 before revealing earlier this year that Crackdown 3 would appear in February 2019. It's now set for a February 15th release date. A lot of that extra time has been spent improving the game's visuals, and to ensure it's a better quality game all round. The original Crackdown was an expansive shooter with a mechanic that saw players hunting orbs to progress and upgrade their skills. Crackdown didn't push players into a rigid set of quests to complete, instead you could complete any... |
Microsoft adding PUBG to Xbox Game Pass on November 12th Posted: 10 Nov 2018 01:14 PM PST Microsoft is adding Player Unknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) to the company's Xbox Game Pass subscription on November 12th. The addition means Xbox One users who subscribe to Xbox Game Pass for $9.99 will now be able to access PUBG, alongside more than 100 others. Microsoft's move to add PUBG to Xbox Game Pass comes just as rumors suggest the game is about to launch on Sony's PlayStation 4 in December. Microsoft appears to have paid for a year of exclusivity on the Xbox One for PUBG, but a move to PS4 opens the game up to millions more as it continues to battle with the popularity of rival Fortnite. Microsoft has been consistently pushing Xbox Game Pass, just as the company is exploring game streaming with its xCloud service. It's clearly... |
Watch Rocket Lab try again to launch its first commercial mission to space Posted: 10 Nov 2018 12:00 PM PST Aerospace startup Rocket Lab will try again this weekend to launch its first commercial mission to space, a flight the company has dubbed "It's Business Time." The small satellite launcher is aiming to send up seven tiny probes into low Earth orbit on its Electron rocket. If successful, the flight will officially kick off commercial operations for the company, which has only pulled off two test flights so far. Rocket Lab has had a hard time getting "It's Business Time" up in the air, though. The company, which launches out of a private site in New Zealand, has tried multiple times to fly this particular mission, but had to stand down after noticing some weird behavior with one of the rocket's motor controllers. After implementing a few... |
Lime issues recall for a scooter model after reports that they can break apart Posted: 10 Nov 2018 11:00 AM PST Electric scooter company Lime is recalling an unspecified number of its vehicles after reports that they might break apart after "repeated abuse," according to The Washington Post. The recall comes weeks after the company recalled some of its Segway Ninebot scooters after concerns over battery fires. The Washington Post says that scooters manufactured by Chinese company Okai could break while in use, and that Lime will recall them from every city that they're deployed in. Lime says that those models will be decommissioned, but did not tell the Post how many units are affected, or in which cities they're being used in. The recall follows Lime's disclosure about the Segway Ninebot models, in which the company notified users of issues with... |
Nearly 150 West Virginians voted with a mobile blockchain app Posted: 10 Nov 2018 11:00 AM PST This election season, the state of West Virginia implemented a blockchain-based voting app for the first time. The app, created by a company called Voatz, was first tested in two counties during the primaries earlier this year. After a successful test, it was used during the midterm election this past week at a wider scale. StateScoop reported that as few as 13 people used the app to vote in county primaries, a number that grew to nearly 150 people voting from 24 out of the 55 counties in the general midterm. A majority of these voters are currently deployed military members or Peace Corps volunteers. The process for placing the ballot is simple but lengthy. The Voatz app is available for download for anyone on Apple's App Store or the... |
11 new trailers you should watch this week Posted: 10 Nov 2018 10:00 AM PST The Deuce wrapped up its second season last weekend, and I didn't think I'd be saying this... but I kind of wish HBO hadn't decided to cut it off after season three. When the final season was initially announced, I didn't mind: the show had failed to evolve its characters, while just meandering through their life and times, and it had gotten pretty frustrating. But by the end of season two, things finally started changing — and it's been great. Characters are breaking down, getting thrown into new situations, and constantly looking over their shoulders. It's something the show certainly could have gotten to earlier, but I'm still loving it now that it's here. Check out 11 trailers from this week below. The Ballad of Buster ScruggsH... |
