Posted: 13 Feb 2019 04:39 PM PST

Today was Amazon's turn at the Television Critics Association, and during its presentation, it announced that it had greenlit a 10-part adaptation of Naomi Alderman's 2016 novel The Power, in which women around the world suddenly gain the ability to electrocute people.

The story has drawn comparisons with Margaret Atwood's dystopian novel The Handmaid's Tale. In it, women around the world develop the ability to electrocute anyone they choose with a simple touch. At first, the ability is treated like an infectious disease, where women are quarantined as it passes from person to person. But before long, the condition spreads, and women around the world begin to seize power, electrocuting and sometimes killing the men in power who stand in...

The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening is getting a 3D Switch remake

Posted: 13 Feb 2019 02:45 PM PST

Nintendo ended its latest Direct presentation with a surprise: a new, 3D remake of the Game Boy classic The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening.

While details are slim, Nintendo did have a trailer to show off the remake, which will see the 8-bit Game Boy graphics redone in a bright, colorful, and absolutely adorable-looking 3D style that wouldn't look out of place in a Pixar movie.

Link's Awakening was originally released back in 1993 for the Game Boy, marking the first time that the franchise had made the jump to a portable console — a fitting match for the Switch, which has taken the place as Nintendo's current handheld king.

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening remake is set to release later in 2019.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses looks like a Harry Potter-style anime adventure

Posted: 13 Feb 2019 02:38 PM PST

Nintendo has finally taken the wraps off of Fire Emblem: Three Houses, revealing the first concrete details for the title since it was originally announced at E3 last year, along with an actual release date: July 26th.

Three Houses will let players create their own main character, starting as a mercenary before joining the Garreg Mach Monastery to teach as a professor at the Officer's Academy there. In a Harry Potter-esque move, the academy is split into the (titular) three houses: the Black Eagles (for families from the Ardrestian Empire, led by Edelgard) the Blue Lions, (for the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus, led by Dimitri), and the Golden Deer (for the Leicester Alliance, the third faction, led by Claude).

Ford made a conveyor belt mattress to keep bed hoggers in their own lane

Posted: 13 Feb 2019 01:30 PM PST

Move over, sex buttons, it turns out that the company most likely to improve couples' relationships and save marriages is actually... Ford? The company has been known to develop conceptual prototypes that utilize its car technology in unexpected ways, like this smart crib that puts babies fast asleep by replicating car rides, or this noise-canceling dog kennel. This time, the company's created a conveyor belt bed that takes inspiration from Ford's lane-keeping technology to keep bed hoggers on their own side.

The bed has a pressure sensor that can tell when your partner has clearly violated your half of the bed, which is rightfully yours. Ford's blog says the conveyor belt gently returns "selfish sleepers" to where they should be, much...
