The company has yet to talk pricing or a release date for the service, despite announcing it back in March of this year. But this window puts Apple's product right up against the launch of Disney+, the entertainment juggernaut's own streaming service that is set to feature a mix of original Disney films, Marvel content, Star Wars content, and original shows and movies across all of its properties and networks. The company had originally set aside $1 billion for former Sony Pictures Television executives Jamie Erlicht and Zack Van Amburg to court well-known creators and Hollywood stars to its platform. According to the FT, that number has jumped to $6 billion as more shows have moved through production and budgets have ballooned. Although Stasior left Apple in May, he's only joining Microsoft later this month as a corporate vice president, reporting to Chief Technology Officer Kevin Scott. Stassior worked at Apple for more than seven years, joining back in 2012. Stasior's departure seems less an indictment of the current state of Siri and more a reflection of the reality of AI at Apple. Simons told FT that he sees the 2020 elections as a looming deadline for the probe, and would seek to make any finding before November 2020 as a result. "Any significant case that I'm trying to emphasize," Simons said, "I would want to be out before the election." The chairman gave few hints as to what that eventual finding might be, but said the increasing entanglement of Facebook with sister products like Instagram and WhatsApp would make it difficult to execute a traditional antitrust breakup. The company today announced its first broadcasting tool, which it's calling the "Reddit Public Access Network." The software will let eligible users live-stream to a new subreddit called r/pan. Users who want to tune into broadcasts can do so directly from the subreddit, but top streams will appear on Reddit's front page throughout the testing period, according to a blog post. Users will also be able to vote on their favorite stream, similar to Reddit's upvote system, which will dictate what appears on the homepage. Not everyone will be able to stream. In fact, Astrobotic's spacecraft, a lunar lander named Peregrine, will be Vulcan's very first payload ever, scheduled for launch sometime in 2021. If everything stays on track, the mission could send the first private vehicle to the surface of the Moon. Astrobotic is one of many companies with its sights set on the lunar surface. The company is offering the new rental plan in six states — Arizona, California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and New Mexico — and it will cost as low as $50 per month (plus tax) with no upfront installation costs or long-term contract. The monthly payment also includes support, maintenance, and any "other necessary hardware," though renters must pas any tax incentives or rebates to Tesla. That's not Nvidia — it's Microsoft's xCloud, streaming Halo to an Android phone from remote internet servers powered by AMD GPUs. Google will also be bringing its Stadia cloud gaming service to Google Pixel phones from AMD-powered servers, and you'll be able to try both this fall. That's probably why AMD rival Nvidia isn't sitting still. The graphics giant just announced it will "soon extend" its existing GeForce Now cloud gaming service to Android phones, including flagship devices from LG and Samsung.
