Earlier this year, Elgato announced a lighting rig that can attach to a desk so YouTube creators, Twitch streamers, and other online content makers can more easily light their home setups.

Today, Elgato is taking that idea a step further by announcing the Multi Mount, an extendable, multi-purpose rigging system creators can use for their lighting, cameras, mics, or whatever they want to mount.

The basic $49.99 Multi Mount can be extended all the way up to 45 inches, clamps to a desk, and has a center ball head with a one-fourth inch screw that you can mount gear on.

If you want to pay for more accessories, you can make the Multi Mount do more: a $39.99 "flex arm" that can bend at three different spots...

The NBA 2K League kicked off in 2018 with an interesting premise: a group of professional teams, each affiliated with an NBA squad, playing a virtual rendition of the sport. Now, after two seasons, the league is looking to expand beyond the NBA with a new club based in Shanghai. The Chinese team will be the first in the league based outside of North America and the first not operated by an NBA team.

The currently unnamed squad will be owned and operated by Gen.G, a multigame e-sports organization that currently has teams in PUBG, Fortnite, League of Legends, and also owns the Seoul Dynasty of the Overwatch League. The Shanghai team will join the league in 2020, and it will be based out of Gen.G's Los Angeles office. Like all other 2K L...

YouTube just made it way easier for creators to search and filter comments

Posted: 26 Sep 2019 04:53 PM PDT

The Verge

YouTube has introduced an updated filtering system for managing comment sections, with the goal of making it easier for creators to find questions and separate comments by subscriber count.

Creators can receive thousands upon thousands of comments on their videos, making a robust filter system instrumental for engaging with viewers. A better search system is the top feature request the company gets from creators, according to YouTube's blog post on the subject published earlier today. The new filtering options now list include:

  • Response status: has the creator already responded to this comment?
  • Contains question: does the comment contain a question?
  • Subscriber count: does the commenter have at least 1,000, 10,000, 100,000, one...

Logitech is buying Streamlabs for $89 million

Posted: 26 Sep 2019 03:32 PM PDT

Logitech has agreed to acquire Streamlabs, which makes the popular live streaming app Streamlabs OBS, for approximately $89 million in cash. The pairing seems like a natural fit, as Logitech already makes widely-used gaming peripherals and streaming gear.

Streamlabs OBS already helps streamers set up their streams, track donation alerts, set up stream overlays, follow their chats, and more. Logitech makes popular gaming and streaming peripherals like keyboards, mice, and webcams, and owns Blue Microphones, a frequent mic choice for streamers, so owning Streamlabs should, in theory, should make for better integration with all of its hardware already used by streamers.

On its website, Streamlabs boasts that 70 percent of Twitch uses...

Tesla’s first big V3 Supercharger expansion is already happening in Canada

Posted: 26 Sep 2019 02:44 PM PDT

Tesla unveiled the first V3 Supercharger at its Fremont, California factory just a few months ago, but the company is already making progress on the first concentrated buildout of the third generation of its fast-charging stations. That's because 26 of the 46 charging stations currently being built along the transcontinental Trans-Canada Highway are V3 chargers, Tesla tells The Verge.

The new V3 chargers are capable of charging some Model 3s at rates of up to 250kW, making it possible to gain 75 miles of range in just five minutes. So far, the company has opened just a few other V3 Supercharging stations (including one in Las Vegas) beyond the original one at the Fremont plant.

The news comes as Tesla celebrates the seven-year...

Facebook is testing hiding like counts to see if that makes people feel better

Facebook will begin testing hiding like counts, starting in Australia on September 27th, according to TechCrunch. The test will hide the number of likes on a post, only displaying that a post was liked by "[a friend] and others," instead of displaying the actual number to the public. The limited test is a gauge of whether the feature can improve users' sense of well-being, and if the experiment is successful, the test may roll out to more regions.

"We are running a limited test where like, reaction, and video view counts are made private across Facebook. We will gather feedback to understand whether this change will improve people's experiences," a Facebook spokesperson told TechCrunch.

Facebook confirmed earlier this month that it was...

DoorDash announces data breach affecting 4.9 million people

Posted: 26 Sep 2019 02:26 PM PDT

Illustration by Alex Castro / The Verge

On Thursday, DoorDash announced in a blog post that an "unauthorized third party" had accessed user data of approximately 4.9 million "consumers, Dashers, and merchants." DoorDash said names, email addresses, delivery addresses, order histories, phone numbers, and hashed, salted passwords all "could" have been accessed. But it's not clear what, if anything, might have been done with the data by the third party.

Some financial information was also accessed. DoorDash said that "for some consumers," the last four digits of payment cards were accessed, but full card numbers and CCV numbers were not. In addition, some couriers and merchants also had the last four digits of their bank account numbers accessed. Approximately 100,000 of the...

Michigan startup Bollinger Motors has unveiled a four-door version of both of its forthcoming electric trucks, the B1 and B2. Clad in all black, the new prototypes Bollinger revealed on Thursday show the startup has been thinking about expanding its offerings before it even gets into production, which has been pushed back to next year.

The four-door B1 (which is shaped like a Jeep Wrangler) and B2 (which is longer and has a pickup bed) will have the same specs as the two-door versions since they'll share the same powertrain. That means they'll have a dual-motor setup that can generate around 614 horsepower, which pull power from a 120kWh battery pack that should last for about 200 miles. The trucks have a top speed of 100 miles per hour...

Tesla starts rolling out biggest software update ever with Spotify, Netflix, YouTube, and more

Posted: 26 Sep 2019 01:10 PM PDT

Tesla has announced that version 10 of its in-car software has begun rolling out to Model S, Model X, and Model 3 owners. Those who paid for the Full Self-Driving option on their car are higher up on the priority list, with a wider release coming in "about a week" containing "slight improvements" from this build, according to Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Tesla says this is its largest software update ever to this point and highlights all the improvements as a key advantage of buying one of the company's cars.

Software Version 10.0 — you'd think Musk would've branded it by now — includes a lot of new entertainment options for Tesla drivers. Spotify Premium, Netflix, YouTube, and Hulu (including with live TV) are now available. The video...
